DAILY ITINERARY


DAY 01

Arrival in Havana

Arrival to Havana International Airport, José Martí and transfer with English speaking guide to the hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant. The rest of the evening will be at leisure.

DAY 02

Havana

After breakfast, the group will have a Havana historical guided tour and will visit the historic Havana Vieja (Old Havana). Afterwards, the group will have lunch at a local restaurant before going on a bus tour of Morro and La Cabana, the Malecon, modern Havana, and Plaza de la Revolucion. The group will also visit Hotel Nacional, where they will enjoy spectacular views of the ocean. Dinner at a local restaurant.



DAY 03

Havana

After breakfast, the group will have a lecture with Dr. Jose J. Portilla – Overview of the Cuban Healthcare System, Public Health and Health Issues. Afterwards, the group will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Visit a Primary Care Unit: Policlinic Rampa. Dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 04

Havana

Today after breakfast at the hotel, the group will visit the headquarters of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) where they will have an exchange with a specialist serving the United States to explain the work of the institute. Visit the National School of Public Health of the Republic of Cuba (ENCAMP). Afterwards, the group will have lunch at a local restaurant. Visit the Latin-American School of Medicine (ELAM) where you will learn about their work graduating foreign doctors. The group will then return to the hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant.



DAY 05

Havana – Viñales – Havana

Today after breakfast, the group will depart for Pinar del Rio. Visit “Con Amor y Esperanza: a community project that helps children with special needs. Then depart for Viñales Valley, where you will make a stop at Los Jazmines view point, where you will enjoy beautiful views of the lush green valley. The group will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and will visit the Prehistoric Mural. Then, the group will begin the ride back to Havana. Dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 06

Havana

After breakfast at the hotel, the group will visit a maternity unit: Installation between hospital and home or women with an at risk pregnancy. Afterwards, the group will have lunch at a local restaurant and will visit the Center of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology. Dinner at a local restaurant.



DAY 07

Havana – Santa Clara

Arrival to Havana International Airport, José Martí and transfer with English speaking guide to the hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant. The rest of the evening will be at leisure.

DAY 08

Santa Clara – Trinidad

After breakfast at the hotel, the group will visit the Caridad Theatre, where you will learn about the history of the theater. Visit the Ernesto Che Guevara Memorial and the Armored Train. The group will have lunch at Santa Rosalia before beginning the journey towards Trinidad, where the group will check into their casas particulares. Dinner will be provided at the casas particulares and the rest of the evening will be at leisure.



DAY 09

Trinidad

After breakfast in the casas particulares, the group will go on a guided tour through the central historical part of Trinidad. They will visit the Church of the Holy Trinity and Monastery of Saint Francis, the Casa de Aldeman Ortiz – a colonial mansion from 1809 which now houses the Galeria de Arte, which contains an art school and offers painting for sale to the public. The group will also visit the Palacio Brunet, which houses the Museo Romantico (Romantic Museum) which offers a window into the world of wealthy sugar baron, Conde de Brunet. The group will have lunch at La Taberna del Barracon before visiting the historical Valley of the Sugar Mills. Dinner at the casas particulares.

DAY 10

Trinidad – Havana

After breakfast in the casas particulares, the group will begin the trip back to Havana. Lunch at a local restaurant before visiting Fusterlandia, a vibrant arts complex named after its originator and chief creative force, Jose Fuster. Jose Rodrigues Fuster, a well-known Cuban artist, is often referred to as the “Picasso of the Caribbean” for his extraordinary work as a painter and sculptor. Farewell dinner at a local restaurant.



DAY 11

Havana Departure

After breakfast, depart to Havana International Airport, José Martí, to board your flight back to Miami, where your tour ends.
